🌸 Why Mauve Haze Works for Mature Skin
While all of the makeover looks in this series were designed by professional makeup artists for the Mary Kay Makeover Contest, I’m sharing my personal tips each week to make sure they work beautifully for women over 50 in particular. Here's what I think about Mauve Haze.
The soft pink shades of Mauve Haze add a healthy glow without looking harsh.
Specifically:
Monochromatic tones make the look cohesive and effortless.
Minimal shimmer keeps the finish subtle and flattering.
Single eyeshadow application makes it simple to recreate.
✅ For women over 50, keeping the look fresh is all about placement and finish. Matte or satin shadows sit better on textured eyelids, and a hydrating lipstick or gloss prevents lips from looking dry.
📋 Step-by-Step: Mauve Haze Makeup Tutorial
1. Eyes
Apply a matte soft pink eyeshadow shade (Dusty Rose) across the entire lid using an all-over eyeshadow brush.
Blend gently into the crease using an eye blending brush for a seamless wash of color.
Line your upper lashline with brown eyeliner (Waterproof Brown), softening the edges as needed with an eyeliner brush.
➜ Over 50 Tip: Avoid shimmer-heavy shadows that can emphasize fine lines. Stick with matte or satin for a smoother look.
2. Cheeks
Use a pink-toned blush (Rogue Rose) along your cheekbones, applied with a cheek brush.
Blend upward toward the temples for a natural lift.
➜ Over 50 Tip: Cream blushes can give mature skin a dewy, youthful glow. Have you ever tried one? Let me know in the comments!
3. Lips
Line your lips with a mauve-pink lip liner (Mauve Nude).
Finish with a mauve-pink lipstick (Mauve Crush) in a hydrating formula.
Optional: Add a touch of gloss in the center for dimension.
➜ Over 50 Tip: Choosing moisturizing formulas prevents the product from settling into fine lines.
