🌟Golden Hour Makeup Tutorial: Flattering Warm Tones for Over 50
Welcome to week four of our Makeover Series for Women Over 50! This week’s look is called Golden Hour. This warm, glowing makeup style features shimmery gold and copper eye shadow, a rich brown eyeliner, and spicy ginger on the cheeks and lips!
If you have warm undertones, love late summer makeup looks, or want a glow that feels polished without going over-the-top, this one’s for you. While it’s not as dramatic as Berry Noir or Champagne Shimmer, it’s definitely more vibrant than Cinnamon Glow and ideal for those with deep beige or bronze complexions.

🌅 What Makes Golden Hour Special?
This look captures the rich, golden warmth of the setting sun, with shimmery gold lids and warm copper cheeks and lips. The dark brown eyeliner adds just enough definition without feeling harsh, making it especially flattering for mature eyes.
It’s the perfect “in-between” look; casual enough for daytime, elevated enough for a dinner out.

👁 Application Tips for Mature Skin
Gold Lid Glow – Apply shimmery gold shadow (Gold Status) to the lid and up into the crease with an all-over eye shadow brush. Next, blend a copper shimmer shadow (Shiny Penny) into the crease and extend it toward the outer corners of your eyelid with an eye crease brush.
Soft Definition – Line your upper and lower lash lines with a dark brown traditional eyeliner for gentle definition (waterproof eyeliner in Brown). Smudge slightly for an even softer finish.
Copper Cheeks – Sweep a warm copper blush (Golden Copper) along your cheekbones with a traditional blush brush, blending upward toward the hairline for a radiant glow.
Warm Lip – Apply a semi-shine lipstick in a deep spicy shade (Spiced Ginger) for a radiant, natural sheen that ties the look together.
Lashes at Last – Apply your favorite mascara to lift the eyes. I featured Mary Kay Ultimate Mascara in Black for this demonstration.
💬 My Thoughts on the Look
Golden Hour feels like a vacation in makeup form; warm, relaxed, and glowing. It’s a beautiful choice for women over 50 who:
Have warm undertones and want to enhance them
Prefer a look with a "wow" factor that isn't overpowering
Want a makeup style that transitions from day to night effortlessly
While I wouldn’t recommend this exact color palette for very fair, cool-toned skin, it’s a gorgeous option for olive, tan, or deeper complexions.
📌 If you have cooler undertones, check out Berry Noir for a flattering alternative. Be sure to tune in during week 6 (August 29) for Mauve Haze, a soft, subtle look just right for cool ivory skin tones.
