Summer Skincare - Let's Shake Things Up with These Top 5 Tips!

Tip #1 Hydration is key

Let's shake things up with a lightweight, water-based moisturizer that offers lots of hydration without feeling heavy or greasy. With that in mind, look for these key ingredients: hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, and cucumber extract. They ramp up moisture levels and soothe skin, which is often needed after a day in the sun. Also consider adding a hydrating facial mist, which provides a quick and easy burst of freshness and moisture throughout the summer days.

Hydrating Products come in a variety of forms:

be on the look-out for gel moisturizers; gel masks in a tube or jar; after-sun gels; hydrating patches; sheet masks; face sprays. 

Tip #2 Protect your skin from UV rays

Shake things up with this upgrade to your SPF game. Be sure you are using sunscreen with an SPF 30 or higher. Look for lightweight, non-comedogenic formulas that offer both UVA and UVB protection. Apply sunscreen generously to your face, neck, chest, and any exposed areas. And remember to reapply every two hours if you're spending an extended time outdoors, have gone swimming, or been sweating excessively.

Tip #3 Lighten up your makeup

For a simple, natural look in the summer, select lightweight makeup products as a way of shaking up your look. For example, swap heavy foundations for tinted moisturizers or BB or CC creams with SPF protection. Also add a touch of cream blush to the apples of your cheeks for a fresh, youthful glow. And with that, you have a quick and easy summer look!

Tip #4 Switch up your cleanser

Shake up your skincare routine in warmer months by trying a gentle, foaming cleanser. Look for cleansers enriched with antioxidants like green tea or vitamin C. In addition to a foaming cleanser, you may want to add a mild weekly exfoliant to gently remove dead skin cells.

Tip #5 Don't neglect your eye area

Another switch up? Extra attention to your eyes! Use a lightweight, hydrating eye cream that reduces puffiness and the appearance of fine lines. Ingredients like caffeine and hyaluronic acid help de-puff and hydrate the under-eye area. Another suggestion for protecting your eyes from UV rays is to wear large sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat when in direct sun.

In conclusion, the summer months call for some shifts in our skincare routine. By shaking a few things up we can take great care of our skin throughout this warm, sunny season. Remember to moisturize your skin and protect it from the sun. In additionyou can also take this opportunity to enjoy a sheer, natural makeup look. Likewise, you may want to try a gentle foaming cleanser to switch things up a bit. And always pay special attention to your eyes no matter what time of year it is.
