I Tried Dermalogica's Best-Sellers — Honest Review
Trying Dermalogica: Is the Hype (and the Price Tag) Worth It?
Have you ever tried a brand that everyone raves about and wondered what took you so long to try it? That's exactly how I felt this week trying Dermalogica for the very first time.

If you've been following along, you know I love introducing you to brands you may not have heard of. This week is a fun change of pace: Dermalogica is a household name in the skincare world, around since 1986, with a huge and loyal following.
So when I had the chance to try three of their best-sellers, I jumped at it. I tested products across three different lines within the brand, so you're getting a good feel for the range Dermalogica offers, not just one corner of it.
If you are not familiar with Dermalogica, here are a few bullet points about the brand:
Professional-grade products trusted by estheticians
Cruelty-free and vegan
Committed to sustainability
Clinically proven results

Here's what I tried:
Daily Microfoliant – their iconic rice-based exfoliating powder (an Allure Best of Beauty Award Winner 2024 and the #1 best-selling powder exfoliant in the U.S. - over 13,000 sold each month on Amazon alone!)
Phyto Nature Lifting Eye Cream – a peptide and plant-extract eye cream from their newer, botanical-leaning line
Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF 50 – a daily moisturizer with broad-spectrum sun protection
Let's get into what I learned about each one.
Daily Microfoliant
➡️ Part of the Daily Skin Health skincare line: General maintenance and foundational care for normal-to-mixed skin

This one's the star of the Dermalogica lineup, and it's easy to see why. It's a fine powder that turns into a creamy paste the second it hits wet skin. Simply combine 1/2 - 1 tsp of the powder with water in your hand and mix until you get the right consistency.

Rice bran, papaya enzyme, and salicylic acid work together to gently buff away dullness
Green tea and oatmeal help keep skin calm while it exfoliates
Runs around $69 for the full size
Texturally, it's very unique! It doesn't feel gritty, yet it exfoliated more thoroughly than just about anything I've ever tried. It is fragrance-free, and my skin definitely looked brighter afterward. (Watch me demo it in the YouTube video.)
What I liked best about this microfoliant was how easy it was to wipe off afterward. I just used a washcloth and didn't have to go back and splash water on my face to remove it completely.
This was such a powerful exfoliant that I'm surprised it is considered something to use daily. I'm not sure my skin could handle that! But that's a "me" thing, not necessarily a "you" thing. 😉
Phyto Nature Lifting Eye Cream
➡️ Key product in the Phyto Nature line: Advanced botanical anti-aging formulas designed to firm, lift, and revitalize mature skin.

This is the priciest of the three, at around $125 for a half ounce. However, with stats like this, I can see why so many people choose to invest in it:
97% showed lifting in upper eyelids
94% showed visible reduction in wrinkles
Dermalogica claims a visible lifting effect after just one use
Impressive ingredients include peptides, quinoa seed extract, astragalus, and CoQ10.
The recommended application is around the orbital area, under the eye, and all over the eyelid, which I found odd since I usually warn viewers against putting eye cream too close to their eyes. But I didn't have any issues at all!
This was a bit heavy, so I may choose to apply it only at night. At $125, this is a serious investment for an eye cream, so make sure you can return it if you aren't completely thrilled!

Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF 50
➡️ From the anti-aging Age Smart line (also categorized under the Dynamic Skin collection online): Focuses on firming mature skin, hydrating, and defending against UV damage.

This is a 3-in-1 daily moisturizer, firming, hydrating, and SPF 50 sun protection, all in one step.
Polypeptide blend helps to improve the appearance of photodamaged skin, while white tea provides antioxidants that protect against free radicals
Offers broad-spectrum protection from UVA and UVB rays, helping prevent sun damage and premature aging
Typically costs about $87
This is a chemical rather than a mineral sunscreen, so it doesn't leave a white residue. I did notice a familiar scent. I believe it's the Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, which can make you think there's added fragrance, but it is in fact fragrance-free.
I found the scent more noticeable than I typically prefer in something I'm putting on my face every day. If you have sensitive skin or tend to react to fragrance, patch test this one first.
Remember to start with a very small amount and add as needed. I concluded that I cannot use this immediately after exfoliating, so you may want to keep that in mind 😉
One clever thing I noticed about the packaging is the twist-top that lets you easily "lock" the dispenser in place so you don't lose any product while travelling. Thumbs way up on that one! 👍🏼
Final Thoughts

Dermalogica is a well-established, well-formulated brand, and I understand exactly why it has such a devoted following. This brand focuses on skin health rather than temporary beauty trends, delivering professional-grade, science-backed results with clean formulas free of common irritants like artificial fragrances and colors.
This brand wasn't my personal favorite out of everything I've tried and shown you recently. Your skin might respond completely differently than mine did, and that's the beauty (pun intended) of skincare — what works for me isn't always what will work for you and vice versa.
If you're on the fence about spending this kind of money, I'd start with the Daily Microfoliant since it's their most beloved product, and build from there based on your budget and your skin's needs.
